Wouldn't Change Things

16 Jan

Here’s a belated birthday present for you!  Looks like you had a great celebration…and don’t you dare say you feel old…you’re still a young, sexy woman…and…you’ll never be as old as me!:)

Here’s something for your ears:)

peace,

Brett

Wouldn’t Change Things

Wouldn’t change things if I could
A year ago it’s true I surely would have
But the days turn into weeks, turn into months, turn into years
Now I’m wondering what the future will reveal

For years I’d lay awake at night
Facing what I couldn’t control
Searching for the that final piece
To complete me, make me whole
It’s taken damn near 40 years
To live without those sleepless nights
There’s a difference beetween running away
And moving on to face the day

Wouldn’t change things if I could
A year ago it’s true I surely would have
But the days turn into weeks, turn into months, turn into years
Now I’m thankful for the path that brought me here

Went to see a friend of mine
In the projects all alone
Was looking for some peace of mind
And to share her weary soul
We went and grabbed a coffee
Talked about the here and now and beyond
Concluded there’s no rainbow’s end
Just storms we strive through now and then

You can say whatever you want
I’ve been to hell and back
So give me what you got
It don’t matter what you say
Life’s too short to be consumed by hate

Wouldn’t change things if I could
A year ago it’s true I surely would have
In the eyes of my child the Love she gives
I’ve somehow found the power to forgive
Wouldn’t change things if I could
If this is as good as it gets well that’s good enough
Cause’ in the eyes of my child, I’ve found the will to believe
Cause’ in her brown eyes I have found the Love to believe….
